Oak Street Beach Engagement : Ashley + Patrick

Ashley & Patrick met years ago when they both worked for the same company. Though they both thought the other was cute, (obviously! I mean, look at them!) They kept it profesh, and soon had built an amazing friendship outside of work. They hung out constantly, and everyone who knew them always insisted they would be perfect together, yet Ashley and Patrick remained friends. After 3 long years of hearing countless friends and family exclaim, "You two need to just date already!", Patrick decided to throw caution to the wind, and take a chance. They were out together one night, and Patrick leaned in and kissed her, and that was it. They finally saw what everyone had been telling them all along, the kind of seeing you do with your heart, and not with your eyes. The rest is history, and they have been inseparable since.

We had the pleasure of meeting these two at our great friend (and first bride ever!) Jenin's wedding last October. We noticed them right away, Ashley is like a gorgeous modern day Marilyn, and Patrick has this dapper, Mad Men air about him- they're a hard couple to miss! Jess and I were thrilled when Ashley reached out a few months later as she began planning her own wedding. We hit it off with them right away; with their goofy, down to earth personalities, we knew it'd be a perfect fit!

We decided to hit the beach at sunrise, aiming for that west-coast sunset look we adore. We planned to arrive at the beach when the internet said the sun would rise, but as we got into the car (around 4:30am!) the sky was getting brighter by the second, and we feared we should have left even earlier! We hightailed it through the empty streets of the city, noticing another car in a similar rush in front of us... We both hit a red light and sat for what seemed like an eternity, before the car in front decided they'd waited long enough. LOL. We debated following through, luckily a mere second later the light turned green. We parked only to see Ashley and Pat getting out of the car we were just behind, turns out we weren't the only ones who thought we were missing the sunrise!

Another reason I was sooooo excited for this session is because Ashley is a complete fashionista, and she was just as pumped about planning outfits as I was. I personally dress pretty casual- so any time I have the chance to live vicariously through dressing up someone else, I'm all over it! I had been in love with this blush Badgley Mischka gown for a while now. It's gorgeous, wears well, and photographs beautifully. Obsessed! Also, Jesse would like to personally thank Ashley for my new addiction to Lulu's .... (Um, hello! they have an entire section of vegan shoes!!! I died... and so did Jesse when she started receiving multiple shipments at work....) I think Ashley is my spirit animal.

After goofing off by the beach with these two, we headed over to Millennium Park for another outfit and a change of scenery....

We had the best morning ever, walking around with these lovebirds, joking, trading embarrassing stories, and laughing the entire time. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday!

Enjoy Seattle you two!!!! Can't wait to see you next year for the big day!
